As any music lover will know, sometimes the journey to finding a great track can be just as important as your love for the track itself – such was the case with this absolute banging Edit from Carlos Gatto!
Picture the scene, I’d heard a mint Radiohead edit on a mix a few weeks previous and had been banging my head against a wall trying to track it down for weeks. A week or so back I had an hour free and decided to give it one last go… two hours later and I’m getting nowhere. I’m just about to give up when this Carlos Gatto Remix of the Smiths ‘How Soon Is Now’ pops up (as it had a couple of similar words in the title). My interest was immediately piqued and I hit play…
Seven minutes and fifty-two seconds later I’ve forgotten all about the track I was after, it’s as if it was all part of a ruse to get me to this moment, with this track. It’s BIG. A proper progressive banger. Simple, but oh so effective with the original vocal effortlessly breathing in and out over a driving baseline. That, twinned with a little Johnny Marr magic and it’s an absolute winner.
Carlos added it to his Soundcloud as a free download about six months ago and the response has been pretty epic – as you’d expect once you hear it. Word has it that Danny Tenaglia dropped it at Stereo in MontrĂ©al near the end of his 13 hour marathon set. He made a speech, played 20 minutes of rock classics, and then blasted this to start his final hour of the marathon. Nicely done.

As a footnote, no sooner had I found and bagged this little beauty, I found the Radiohead edit too! Sometimes things are meant to be!
