Rane have just released pre-orders of their new ‘motorised’ flagship controller and it looks the actual dogs nackers! Building on the tried and tested Rane 4 they have added two seven inch platters which let you change the slip matt to get you the feel you want. They also have improved the display in the centre of each jog which now allows you to scroll and select tracks without looking at your laptop. A further enhancement and one which is very welcome is the addition of daylight-mode which inverses the colours so that you can see in bright sunlight – this was a bug bear of mine for years with Serato and was very vocal with their support team (Serato NOT Rane). The six hardware effects have been increased to twenty-nine. The original six effects worked very well on the Rane 4, and we personally cannot wait to give them a spin. The dual USB allowing you to connect two laptops is still present which is very welcome. Resident DTB DJ Nick Sheldon has had the Rane 4 since it came out and always sings its praises. CREATIVITY IN MOTION
The PERFORMER features 7” high-torque die-cast aluminium platters with acrylic discs that respond just like vinyl. The magnetically attached discs provide consistently accurate feedback. Each platter has a high-definition 3.5” LCD screen showing deck info, waveforms, album artwork, and library views. The Day Mode option reverses contrast for clear visibility, so nothing gets washed out when in sunlight.
PRECISION FEEL FADERS
The RANE PERFORMER mixer includes an adjustable MAG FOUR crossfader as well as 4 PRECISION FEEL FADERS. These adjustable tension faders use the same dual rail mechanical system as the MAG FOUR, mounted vertically on the circuit board for smooth and reliable performance. You can customise the faders in the onboard menu, giving you the ability to reverse them and adjust the cut-in curve from 0-100%.
STEMS CONTROL
This controller offers 4 unique options for controlling stems, setting a new standard for creative DJing. RANE’s exclusive STEM SPLIT feature automatically splits the acapella and instrumental sections across 2 mixer channels, letting you add FX to each element. STEM LEVEL transforms the 3-band EQ on each channel into adjustment knobs, allowing you to adjust, kill, or boost individual elements.
EXPANDED FX CAPABILITIES
Enhance your creativity with 29 fully customisable, paddle-triggered main FX and 4 knob-controlled channel FX. These FX include classics like Reverb and Echo, along with modern options such as Scale Down, Recycler, and Riser. The fader FX suite from the RANE SEVENTY A-TRAK SIGNATURE EDITION mixer is also integrated into the PERFORMER, allowing the PRECISION FEEL volume faders to control roll, pitch, and ring modulation.
