DropTheBeat were invited to the relaunch of ‘TheDJAwards’ at the ‘Beach House’ in Ibiza.
Created in 1998 and active until 2019 and the DJ Awards took a four year hiatus mostly due to the worldwide pandemic. It has now received substantial investment and a new owner.
October 2nd 2024 is the next edition of the DJ Awards and is aiming to honour exceptional talent, innovation and contributions in the electronic music world.
This preliminary event was an introduction and the launch of the rebrand.
The revitalised awards will champion global DJ culture and recognise achievements across various categories, including returning classics and new additions that mirror industry developments.
Jasmine Elias, head of awards and events at DJ Awards, expressed her enthusiasm: “After a four-year break, I am thrilled to return to the DJ Awards with renewed passion and excitement. With new owners, a fresh vision, and a complete rebrand, we look forward to celebrating the electronic music industry.”
Andy Grant, the new owner, emphasised the awards’ legacy and future direction: “Thanks to the integrity of the founders, who, for 22 years focused only on recognising true excellence in global dance music culture, the DJ Awards remains the only true and valid recognition of the community’s achievements. With this baked into our DNA we are now going to build upon this foundation and create something truly amazing – as important to dance music as the Oscars is to film. I am very proud to play a leading role in the next chapter of the DJ Awards.”
The revamped awards will reflect industry advancements in technology, streaming, AI, Web3, and themes such as DJ stardom, diversity and mental health discussions.
Manu Gonzalez who won the coveted title back in 2019 was on hand to play at this auspicious event and he worked the room superbly, a true professional.
Andy and the team have some great ideas to make the DJ Awards stand out, and we can’t wait to see them develop… Orient Express anyone?
