DTB: Another week, another mix. Are you always on a music journey?
NS: Heh, funny you put it like that. The word ‘journey’ has been associated with my mixes for years. I love layering records and keeping the mix going for as long as possible and picking out the little sounds of each tune. hmm, and yeah, I am always on a music journey, I am constantly thinking about sounds that go together. Harmonies, melodies, vocals, stabs, and of course acid.
DTB: We love this mix. The start is great as it’s a well known classic record with a really well done edit.
NS: It’s a cracking remix / edit, call it what you will. It’s actually from 2011. In fact, I’ve been digging again through my crates and came up with an assortment of tunes from around ten to fourteen years ago. The great thing is that they all sound as relevant and as fresh as they did back then. I was properly in the zone when I did this house party and the mixing is non-stop, to the point where a tune playing by itself only has seconds on its own on most transformations.
DTB: Favourite tune for you on here?
NS: I love the flow of Ben Coda’s remix of the Organic DJ’s Auditorium. Apart from that Nic Fanciulli features twice on here and he is an OG master. I met Nic, of ‘Hi-Bias’ records fame when I was in Toronto in ’96. Lovely guy, and definitely knows his onions. Remember DJ’s Rule – Get in the Music (Serious Mix) 1990? What a beautiful record.
DTB: What’s happening next for you?
NS: Well, I’m off to Ibiza end of the week, to catch up with Sasha, Franky Wah, Camilo Miranda, and Dave Morales. An action packed few days awaits… After that I have the Anthemia Boat Partay on September 28th, and I have some proper filth for that bi-annual shenanigans. The Anthemiacs are well up for it.
